Local Markets

Markets and Antique Fairs in the Local Area

One of the great pleasures of a holiday in France is being able to browse at the local markets.

As you wander you will take in the perfume of herbs and spices, the smell of freshly cooking chickens and pork, fresh bread and the cheeses and not to mention the fresh quality fruit and vegetables. As well as the traditional weekly markets there are many ‘Brocantes’ which are always interesting to browse through as they sell furniture, paintings, books and nic nacs.

There are also the very French ‘Vide Greniers’ which have an extraordinary selection of items, many of which you would consider need throwing away rather than purchasing, but it all adds to the overall feel that these markets are as much a meeting place and a social occasion as a place to buy and sell.
